door to door salesmen - what are your feelings on this?

I find them to be a nuisance personally.
It seems like we have someone knocking on our door trying to sell us magazines, books, etc at least once a month in Southdowns.
Some people look sketchy as shite most of the time.

Is that still a thing?

I've had maybe 2 people in the last 10 years do this.
One for magazines and the other was for direct tv

Just don't let him overhear your plot to deploy a script in your employer's software to steal pennies on every ATM transaction .

unfortunately yes. How are you going to make a sale when 90 percent of time, I am pissed that I have to drop everything I am doing plus hold the dog back.

I feel like you meant to post this in 1998.

Don't want it. If I want to buy something I will seek it out.

If I want something, I'll go out and get it. I'm at a point where I don't even want family knocking on my door. Ha.

The most I get is those damn Vivint guys.
I'm not a fan.

They're probably casing the neighborhood.

Get an airsoft gun and shoot them.

Hot chicks should go door to door selling pussy. They’d make a killing

We get a couple per month. When we bought our house it had a small no soliciting sign taped inside the glass and we decided to just leave it. Now, when I see one of them standing there I just make eye contact, tap on the glass where the sign is located, and don't even bother opening the door. Highly recommend this tactic.

I get several a week since we had a hail storm. M'fers want to fix my car, roof, tree limbs, etc.
Annoying as hell, but u try to be nice.
I quit answering the door though.

No way in hell I’m answering the door unless I know you. This is 2018.

There is nothing that someone would come knock on my door, to try to sell me, that I need. We don't really get door to door salesmen, I think there is an ordinance against it, where I am. Of course if kids go around their neighborhood to sell something that isn't enforced, but that seems to happen less and less.
The only people who come around are Jehovah Witness. And they come 2 or 3 times a year.. And it pisses me off.. Because I do not like people going around trying to sell their religion.
The baptist church owns a house in my neighborhood and every time JW goes around and they go to the Baptist preacher's house.. And someone is home, they always stay there for a good 10-15 mins.. I am always curious about that conversation...
But to the point of this thread, I agree with you. I look at it like this. If they are selling door to door, they are hard up for a job.. That means they could take advantage of other opportunities they see. Like, see something valuable in the house they go to and then later try to break in, etc..
