Happens all of the time. I confess that I did not get the memo that I am not supposed to inform her that I cam to the conclusion instantly, yet it takes her an indefinite amount of time to get to the correct conclusion, if she gets there at all.
They need to work on their trust and humility. If decision making is difficult, then they need to find someone they can trust (hopefully their spouse), present the info to them, then say, "What should I/We do?" Wait for the answer, then go about their business happy as can be. Now they no longer have to come up with a conclusion and they can go do their nails.

So some relevant details: me and my wife have a 2 week old newborn leaving the house for only the 2nd time tomorrow for his 2nd doc appt

I get home tonight to my wife and my MIL in a deep debate trying to figure out if she should take a cooler with ice to keep the breast milk cold or whether it’ll be cold enough outside to not worry about it. Here’s the thing, before you give breast milk to a baby it has to be heated. So after hearing about 3 minutes of this I say well how are you going to heat it up? She responds that they make a cig lighter milk heater but we have gotten it yet

(I make a very confused face)

(Deep breath)

“Well if you have no way to heat the milk back up doesn’t that pretty much make the decision for you about putting it on ice in a cooler?”

I was met with silence
