Obstinate and mean.

Gym floor is hard once that bastard throws you.

Does anyone else remember this as a kid?

Yep.

When your children ask you what was it like in the days before the internet and smart phones, we can proudly say that we used to play and/or watch people play basketball whilst riding a donkey.

It was a time of great innovation

I remember going to it when I lived in Independence. It was pretty disappointing, even for an 8 year old kid.

Ha. I was going to say the same. Once the initial laughs wore off after five minutes or so, it wasn't too exciting.

Although people got hurt doing it was probably a PETA petition that brought an end to the demeaning abuse the donkeys endured when people rode them. There's probably an attorney out there who will file suit for you if you believe you still suffer from grief from having witnessed that animal abuse when you were a child. Call an attorney now and get it done!

I might actually be traumatized. I giggled when people hit ground hard. Might have PTSD from my childhood

Well said. This is how I remember it. A vague, hazy memory that doesn't seem real.

We did it in high school in '09 as a senior fundraiser.
Apparently I play my best basketball while on a donkey

Curtis used to have donkey basketball in the gym every year. I always hoped my algebra teacher would fall off a donkey and get stomped to death.

a bear that came and wrestled one of the biggest dudes in the whole parish

Was it Clarence Voss? Clarence was in our hunting club years ago and stands over 7 feet tall, used to be a professional wrestler.

quote:

A 7-foot angler who once allegedly wrestled a bear in a Bossier City nightclub and a Purple Heart recipient who was “blown up” eight times in fighting overseas
quote:

“He just picked him up and flipped him over,” Johnson said. “Of course, he had a muzzle on which is probably one reason he won.”
“The bear or Clarence had the muzzle?” I asked.

“The bear,” Johnson returned.

Donkey basketball is still a thing in a small town 30 minutes from my house. My wife and I go every year for some laughs and to support the fundraiser.

We had it and I graduated in 2009. Remember basketball coaches getting pissed when a donkey would shite on the floor.
