When the coronavirus scare started back in March or so I kept hearing ads on the radio for me to donate blood. They told me blood was much needed at this time and I could really help out. I remember thinking what are they going to do with blood? Are people bleeding out from coronavirus?

Fast forward to last month. I hear an ad saying now that doctors offices are opening back up and elective surgeries are happening again we have a great need for blood. They need me to please donate.

Which is it? What are they doing with this blood? Do they just use any crisis as an excuse to gather blood weather they need it or not?

I’d like to see more transparency in the blood bank industry. Do we as a public even know what is happening with our blood?

Blood only is good for a certain length of time. There are a lot of uses for one pint of blood. Don't forget about certain traumas, bleeding disorders and burst aneurysms. The last goes on. No scam.

I didn’t know that. It makes more sense though.

I know that blood isn’t a scam. I think the way they try to use events to generate donors is a scam. Did they really have an increased need for blood due to coronavirus? If not, they lied in order to obtain something of value. I’d say that’s a scam.

There probably was a legitimate shortage during the worst of corona and the shutdown. It likely wasn't due to patients with Covid being treated, but more likely a result of people not going out and being leery of the simple act of donating blood.
I bet overall donations dropped considerably during the shutdown and that led to a legitimate shortage.

1. Critically ill patients often need blood donations so yes COVID patients needed blood.

2. People are still getting in car accidents, getting shot, and needing open heart surgery so blood is still in demand.

3. Just like you aren’t going out as much as you once were, the regular donors aren’t donating like they usually do.

4. Office and school blood drives are basically non-existent.

5. There’s no money in them asking for blood they don’t need, in fact they pay for the ads so they’re losing money.

It's all part of a nefarious scheme to use everyone's DNA to create a super race of people.

Just kidding you're an idiot.

Even in normal times, blood donations typically drop off in the Summer, sometimes to critical levels of certain blood types.

Blood is like a parachute. If it's not there when you need it, chances are you will never need it again.

Never let a tragedy go to waste. The marketing department of blood banks capitalize on it.

Say what you want, but there is always a need for blood.

It’s more of a barter for credit between blood banks usually, which then gets paid back when the one that had a surplus needs blood later. Nobody is getting rich off of blood donations.

The Deep State, the Bilderbergs, the Illuminati, and the 1% all bathe in it.

That really doesn't fit here. COVID19 reduced the number of people giving blood significantly, even though there were fewer elective surgeries scheduled there was still a shortage.
