Look this is easy, if you are scared of NO then don't come to NO, problem solved.

That's all fair enough. But you insinuate that everyone in New Orleans who enjoys it is some rube who doesn't know any better which is absurd. I have plenty of friends and acquaintances from around the country, and some from various countries in Europe, who have chosen to settle in new Orleans. That's nt meant to be some blanket endorsement of New Orleans but to add some perspective.

Admittedly, I am painting with a broad brush. I just get rubbed the wrong way by people with the attitude that it's perfectly safe and there's nothing wrong. People get awfully defensive about it when facts are pointed out.

I don't think any NOLA resident has this attitude.

I completely understand not wanting to live here. I've already addressed major cities, especially NOLA, aren't for certain people.

But it's always laughable when someone from Shreveport, Bossier, or crappy city X not in LA cannot fathom why anyone would ever want to do it. I'll never deride someone for placing safety as their #1 priority when choosing where to live; I'll just say I choose not to make it my only concern.

My point was quite a few people earlier in this thread pointed out that if you stay in the quarter, touristy areas etc. you'd be fine.

If memory serves, the standard response to any criticism of New Orleans has always involved "but Atlanta", "but Houston", or "but Baton Roooge!!!!"

The Memphis apologists are the same way. It's okay that it's one of the most dangerous cities in the country because Atlanta.

In fairness, those cities do suck arse just as much as BR but without the food and entertainment that NOLA offers. At least NOLA has soemthing redeemable about it.

ATL has the Braves. (not for long thank goodness)

BR has LSU I guess. meh
HOUSTON has nothing redeemable.
