In my years of posting, this a first that I've seen a bona fide OT classic thread from the start. Most others were either well after the fact or completely missed by me. And the Grinch move followed by a Christmas morning reinstatement of the thread by a Savior admin will only add to the legend.

Wearing shoes in the house is trashy but a pet nutria is legendary
I <3 the OT

I need a pic of Tanden poking his head out of a stocking with a Santa hat on.

Tanden!
Is Tanden going to get a Twitter or IG account so we can follow the daily adventures of the OT's new mascot?

I had a friend in high school that had 2 racoons and a nutria. The racoons were male and female. The female was farm bred the male was a baby in the wild. Eventually they had to be separated. The female was docile her whole life. The male was unpredictable at best.
The nutria was found as a baby. It lived off pet milk and oreos then table scraps when it got bigger. It was docile but eventually he just released it in the back yard and never saw it again. I would guess it was probably eaten by something since its first year or so of life was in a house

Nutria have been known to live 12 yrs in captivity... perhaps Tanden will be able to bring the OT lots of memories in the years to come!!! Merry Christmas

Fantastic story !
I once found baby squirrel when I was a small kid. I brought it home and bottle feed for a few days till my parents found our cat in the laundry room with litter of kittens. I put the squirell amongst the kittens and it nursed like it was a cat and the mom cat did not mind. It lived in the house for a few weeks after its eyes opened It made a nest out of dads books on the high book shelf then behind if wall speaker. Dad said no more when it chewed up a lil wood statue he brought back from Germany. We let it go in the back yard and it was so friendly it would come down the tree and climb up your leg to play. Our dog one day decided to eat it probably out of jealously since they played together
