From all accounts one of the most decent, genuine people in show business or out. She does a ton of philanthropic work with very little fanfare.

My kid, and every kid born in Tennessee, gets a new book in the mail every month from Dolly Parton until age 5 (I think, maybe 6). Her dad was illiterate and made such an impression on her, she has made it her goal for all kids born in TN to be able to read.
