It all depends on the location of the store to be honest but it is a discount store so it’s natural to attract a certain class of people but that is precisely what it is in business for.

Go up hwy 61 and about 10 miles south of Natchez there is one. Literally in the middle of nowhere. I stop in the one in Slaughter now and then. It’s clean and rarely more that one or two people in it.

Dollar Tree has added a "Premium" end cap where stuff is like $3.

The other 99.5% of the store is $1 or less. Amazing what you can buy there for $1, really.

Agreed. I might exchange a propane tank there out of pure convenience, but that’s it.

There's a Dollar General on the way to our lake house in the middle of freaking no where.

Avoided it for the longest time, then decided to swing in one day. It's freaking great.

Almost the exact same thing for me. At our house on the river, we pass two to get to Walmart or Rouse's. One night we were out of some spice and I was complaining about having to drive to Gonzales and my wife said go to DG (its less than 2 miles from the house) after giving her the side-eye I did and was amazed at what they had. It was less than 6 months old at the time and was clean and well-stocked. I buy a ton of stuff there now and it is so quick to get in and out.

Dollar General has so much more than people realize.

One near my house and I hit it up all the time. They’re everywhere in Nashville.

Where about?

Every town with a population over 100 had a Dollar General. Apparently you need a couple thousand to support a Walmart though.

Live in an IL rural town and have to drive 30 mins to go to Walmart. Do have a DG though. They just built a new store in place of the older one, and it's got some produce and way more stuff than the previous store had.

The first and last time I went to the Dollar General on Edenborn in Metairie..Damn that place was trashed. They caught an old white couple shoplifting..You would think they cracked the Brinks Heist. I thought there were 20 employees going on about it..All 4 of them were talking at the same time.

Their marketing is also smaller product sizing than say wal mart

Say 18 oz cereal at wal mart is $6.99

DG will have a same looking 12 oz box for $6.49

Hey its "cheaper" at DG !!

There is a chain that tried this. I think it was called Fred’s and they even tried to buy a pieces of the Rite Aid that wasn’t bought buy Walgreens.

DG is the outfit that will make WalMart cry.

I avoid both like the plague.

Dollar General’s aggressive pricing drives locally owned grocery stores out of business, replacing shelves stocked with fresh fruit, vegetables and meat with the kinds of processed foods underpinning the country’s obesity and diabetes crisis.

DG has nothing to do with this. You can go to every Walmart in a major city that is certainly not a “food desert” and it’s full of EBT swiping deadbeats with a cart full of trash. They don’t want fresh food. They want processed shite.

They literally carry the exact same brands as Walmart. Its essentially a mini Walmart.

My home county has less than 20k people and I think there are 8 Dollar Generals including a full size grocery Dollar General Market. I actually did a lot of my grocery shopping at the Dollar Market because the Kroger was on the other side of town.
