Actually dogs are the result of people, good breeders, who selected desirable traits, and bred until those traits showed up in their offspring.
Then they repeated the process until those traits were locked in. Then they could be repeated over and over.
We get to enjoy whichever traits we desire.
Pointers hunt and point birds.
Beagles find and track rabbits until the hunter gets a shot.
Mutts lay on the couch and dream of being a super dog..

Why the laugh? I had a dog given to me and a year or so later she saw her prior owner. She clearly remembers who he was. Didn’t dance or anything, but the recognition was clear.
