This. My FILs heeler would bark/growl at me very aggressively. One kick to the chest and a slap upside the head and now she runs op to and rolls over on her back.

Actually it appears the GF is the Alpha and the dog and OP are competing for #2. Correcting the dogs behavior has to factor invthe GF. Currently the dog and OP are equals in the pack.

Chows are horrible dogs. Just shoot the thing in the head and get a good one

A good start would be to make your girlfriend take care of her dog herself.

Screw your gf in front of the dog. When it's time, pull out, turn around, and shoot your load onto the dog. This will show male dominance and he will have to smell your load for hours as a constant reminder of your male dominance

Also correct. He was attempting to dominate the dog and the girlfriend "barked" at him and he backed down.

You might try watching some Ceaser Milan vids. Find them on Netflix or YouTube. You can also order $ the vids and his books. You need to understand what the dog is thinking before 'solving' the problem. Random attempts to change his behavior could do more harm than good. The best advice suggested in this thread is obedience classes. Hope this helps. As said before, Chows are a difficult breed. You will need patience, perseverance, consistency, and luck.

frick getting into a wrestling match with a chow. Take a leather belt and beat his stupid arse until he doesn't challenge you any more. I've got a lab/chow mix and a german shephard. Beat both of their asses as pups, and have no issues now.

Yea if this dog thinks it's the badass, which many chows do this is actually pretty dangerous. But may be worth it, sounds like you do need to step it up.

There are a lot of little things you can do though that aren't as likely to get you bitten that will work.

Tie his arse up and eat your sandwich out of his food bowl. You have to completely mind frick him to regain alpha status.

He has to know you're just a bit crazier than he is.

Hide somewhere and when he comes out, jump on his back and sleeper hold his arse.

I agree, but this f@g is letting his girlfriend decide his place among the four of them. She has chosen to put him last, and he hasn't done anything about it. Do you really think he is going to risk her wrath by doing anything to the dog?

Also, the dog is right not to respect him. He knows this guy gets lights out under the covers with socks on missionary sex once a month IF he takes care of all of her menial tasks. The dog relents to the other current guy who is longstroking her multiple times a week and doing the most demeaning, dominant shite imaginable to her. I hate the the OP had to find out that he was a cuckold bitch like this, but sometimes the hard truth is the best.

My dog thought he was alpha on a couple of occasions. Nothing a punt across the yard didn't handle.

I bet the dog would post pics of your girlfriend for us. Turn your card in and give the dog your laptop.

If your GF has already taught your dog basic commands (sit, here, heel) and he understands what's being asked of him then you only need a remote shock collar. Do not leave on for extended periods of time, they will develop sores on their neck from scratching at it, not from being shocked, contrary to popular belief. With a thick coat you are going to need a model that has long prongs. If the dog doesn't understand basic commands he will only be confused when you shock him.

First you need to figure out what power setting will get his attention, you aren't trying to hurt them, just get their attention. Calibrate it while on his neck starting from low power and working your way up until you get desired reaction.

If you give command and he doesn't listen push the momentary/nick button like a machine gun until you get a response. He will figure it out pretty quickly.

As far as selling your woman on this, this is a matter of safety for the dog and other dogs/people. In your example you listed of the dog not coming when called could have gotten him killed by getting hit by a car.

One thing you can do is make him get out of your way as you walk around the house. If he is laying down walk to him telling him to move. Don't set around him or over him. Make him get up and move.
