WTG Bear. I didn't know dogs could do that.

A dog trained to sniff out electronics helped find a piece of key evidence in the Jared Fogle child pornography investigation, according to prosecutors.
The Labrador retriever named Bear has been trained to find electronic media storage devices, such as SD cards and thumb drives, according to WRTV.
Prosecutors said Bear discovered a hidden flash drive at the residence which proved to be key to the investigation.

I didn't either. I knew they had incredible senses of smell, but dang. That's cool.

Yeah:
"Let’s say you have a gram of a component of human sweat known as butyric acid. Surprisingly, humans are quite good at smelling this. If you let it evaporate in the space of a 10-story building, many of us would still be able to detect a faint scent upon entering the building. Not bad, for a human nose. But consider this: If you put the 135-square-mile city of Philadelphia under a 300-foot-high enclosure, evaporated the gram of butyric acid and let a dog in, the average dog would still be able to detect the odor."
That's pretty sensitive.

He's probably trained to pick up the faint scent of Jergen's hand lotion.

can you imagine how jared felt when he came back inside after and ran to that place he had it hidden to find it gone

My wife would give this dog a run for his money at finding porn (adult, not kiddie) on computers. No amount of planning can keep her from finding out when I dabble in some good amateur porn viewing.

Meh.
I'm glad he found it, but that doesn't excuse the 100s of dogs that alert b/c Barney tells them to.
Plus, after 10 years, if you're relying on a dog to make your case, that's pretty weak sauce.

It is pretty incredible what they can do. We had a Bassett Hound that had an incredible sense of smell. As she got older and began to lose her eyesight, she would lift her nose as if she could 'see' through her sense of smell.

That's hard to believe a dog could do that

So they have porn-sniffing dogs now. Didn't know that.

The cat knew it was there, it just didn't care.

I'd to buy Bear a 12" foot long with double meat and no veggies!

Kudos to the dog obviously. But what blows my mind even MORE than dogs being able to do that is how the hell do you train them to do that?
I'm sure if I just put a flash drive under a dog's nose he wouldn't be able to go in a house and seek one out. Man what an exciting time we live in.
