I am a dog person. I have heard people say a dog is the mental equivalent of a 2-3 year old kid. I have had some smart damned dogs and 2 kids who appear smart most of the time but have both done some incredibly stupid shite over the years which belies their true intelligence. That said both of them could outwit a damned dog at 2 without any effort. While they weren't exactly conversant at a high level at 2 compared to the smartest dog that ever lived their spoken vocabulary was infinitely more broad. That alone speaks volumes about comparing a dog to a human in terms of intelligence. Both of my kids would eat boogers and occasionally smear shite from one end of the house to the other at 2....never once caught one of them gleefully eating a cat litter coated cat turd out of the litter box, something every dog I ever knew would do with a lust not seen in humans for prime ribeye. Its a damn dog. They have some qualities that make them superior to folks....smarts ain't counted among them.

Same can be said about kids.

My dog goes crazy when one firework goes off 2 counties away. I just laugh until all 70 lbs comes jumping in my lap, right on my balls. July 4 I dope him up good with some drugs the vet gave us, cheap btw, and he's fine.

Dose the shite out of em with gabapentin. They sleep thru most of it
