Dog not able to move on right side of body

3 year old collie/Rottweiler mix.
Went for several walks yesterday, went outside in the middle of the night was fine. This morning when I went to take him out he couldn't stand up. His front right and back right legs were unable to coordinate/move with the rest of his body. If I picked him up, he fell back over. His paws on the right side were curling under and he wasn't putting them down flat. It's almost as if the brain wasn't communicating to that side of the body. He doesn't seem to be in any pain. I can move his legs and they all seem fine, along with bend them. He doesn't yelp or cry if I move his legs either. Any idea on what may be happening?
Current status: Took him to ER, they are gonna do an MRI and spinal tap tomorrow. Blood work today to determine if that's all necessary.

I hope it’s not cancer. Wishing your good boy the very best.

Google idiopathic vestibular disease. My dog had similar symptoms but he is an older dog. With your dog only being 3 years old it may be an inner ear problem.
Symptoms of Vestibular Disease in Dogs This condition will likely present suddenly and can be central or peripheral in nature. The primary and most noted symptoms are:
Head tilt to one side or the other
Vestibular ataxia (lack of muscle control) often asymmetric (not equal on both sides) Tight circling, falling or rolling
Spontaneous nystagmus (rapid involuntary eye movements) Nausea and vomiting similar to that of motion sickness
Strabismus (misalignment of the eyes or the condition of having a squint)
Disorientation Reluctance to walk or stand Leaning or falling in the same direction as the head tilt

A friend just had a similar experience except it was only the hind legs and it was diagnosed as a Fibrocartilaginous Embolism (a stroke in the spine). They're getting excellent neurological care and rehab at LSU VTH.
Hope things improve for your sweet pup and it's a far less serious issue!

My dog and neighbors dog did this last winter. Finally figured out they had eaten a rotten carcass. It wore off after a few hours. Vet said it was like they were tripping on drugs. First I had ever heard of this.

yes they can and that sounds like what happened.

OP, obviously have the vet confirm, but i am sorry to say, your little buddy had a stroke and wont be able to function any more. its time he is put down even thought he isnt in pain, he cant live like that with only half a body that functions unless you want to care for him as a crippled vegetable

Unfortunately, this. I had to put my 8 yr old lab down 2 weeks ago because of this. Midday started walking funny, then dragging her rear foot. By midnight she was paralyzed in both rear legs. By the next day she had no deep pain and didn't respond to hyperbaric oxygen. Complete loss of bladder and bowel control. Sucks.

That sucks, some make some dont. Mine had rear paralysis and loss of bladder for about three days, then slowly recovered. eventually about 85% on one leg and 30% on other, with occasional shitting problems. but its been 5 years, still going strong, just doesnt go on hikes or the boat any more

Did you get an upfront cost estimate for all this

I was going to say he might have eaten something or gotten stung. I hope it works out well for the pup.
