Why are we talking about pits? The dog in question was an English bulldog. 5 pages of nonsense has been spewed about pits. And they didn't even bite anyone in hartselle. Downvote me all you want. I've had pits. Call me trashy whatever. But mine was a rescue. His name was Brody. Only problem I had out of him was chewing on everything. He was a good boy. He passed away just last year.

Next day I walk outside and he is on my porch waiting for me to come out. I gave him a little food and he was happy. Next day he was waiting on me again. At this point I was certain someone had dumped him, so I loaded him up and took him to the pound.

You could have brought him to a shelter. He sounded like a good boy

It’ll be nice when she attacks his neighbor’s kid and the bully murder epidemic gets publicized to a wide audience

The comments are widely supportive. You’re just looking for confirmation of your bias towards pits. Again, they aren’t aggressive by nature.

Ok, so let’s blame the owners.
Now, explain how there are millions of Labradors out there, and the bite percentages aren’t the same?

Personally, I'm of the opinion that every shitty owner of a shitty dog that bites and injures or kills someone should be charged and the dog put down. People don't like to hear that, though. They legit believe that there are no shitty German Shepherd owners out there. Or, insert any other dog breed if you're going to get defensive of a "GSD".

ETA: See......the OT has a personal responsibility problem for shitty dog owners.

Of course there are shitty owners of other good breeds. At times, that leads to incidents that aren't necessarily the dog's fault.

Pit bulls, on the other hand, are completely at fault in all instances because of their temperament. They are not family dogs, they have no redeeming qualities--they are simply killers

the statistics don't lie. That meme of 11% of the population yet 60% of bites/fatalities? fact that proves it is not about the owner whatsoever

Got at least one to admit it. That's a start.

*** Edit: it’s now being reported that the dog was an Olde English Bulldog.

I highly doubt it has UKC papers saying it's pure breed. It's highly more likely it's a pit mix and the owner was told it's an Olde English Bulldogge.

I have always done this. Not sure why. I always refer to people as “they”

Your position is that pit bull fatalities are all due to shitty owners, correct?

You're completely wrong and spewing bullshite

Nope. I have said that nowhere, and you will never find anywhere where I have said that.

ETA: I will clarify my stance. There are people on this site who have seriously said all pit bull owners should either be locked up or killed (an actual comment that got numerous upvotes). Every time that shite is said I ask a simple question, "What about shitty owners of other breeds?" People always get defensive over that one question.

ANSWER:

quote:

FACT: The “Pit Bull” is not an official breed. “Pit Bull” is an umbrella term commonly reported to contain the following 3 registered breeds of dogs: Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and American Pit Bull Terrier.

quote:

The Olde English Bulldogge is a cross between a purebred English Bulldog, American Bulldog, American Pit Bull Terrier, and Bullmastiff.

Pit bull - 284 fatalities
Rottweiler - 40 fatalities
GSD - 20 fatalities

there is no comparison. Of those 20, how many were due to rabies/the same shitty pit bull owners leaving them out/etc.?

There is no explaining away 284 deaths in comparison to all the other breeds, particularly given their small population in the U.S.

you have no argument

You don't even know what my argument is you twat.

If your dog attacks someone in any way that is not in protection of you against a direct threat you should go to jail and the dog should be put down, whether it is a pit bull, a GSD, or a fricking beagle. Period.

If that happens, you are a shitty owner who shouldn't have a dog. Period.

That is my stance. I won't defend anyone who has a dog that attacks someone, no matter the breed.

It doesn't fricking exist you trashy, low iq frick. You tried arguing that other dogs are just as dangerous as pits because of bad owners.

Pits are the problem. Not owners
