I’ve found I sleep better after sex. Maybe you should try that.

I’ll echo what some others have said- melatonin is natural, and i wouldnt hesitate to give it to my pup if needed.. lots of people even give their dogs Benadryl to relax, vets recommend it, and it , to me, seems stronger than melatonin.. but dont give him any almonds, almonds are toxic to dogs.
Sorry to hear yall are going through this.

No he sleeps in the front room. Usually on out ottoman.
Maybe try a dog bed in your room & will sense you’re closer
I don’t know, it’s just a guess & where I would start
Good luck

Our mutt is 16 and doing the same stuff as yours. Vet prescribed carprofen. We give him that and a melatonin. It seems to help. CBD didn’t do shite for him

Get some male dog wraps for use at night.

It’s dementia. Keep a lamp on. He may be falling off the ottoman so get a soft dog bed. No need for drastic decisions he probably wants to still enjoy his days. Sometimes people put their dogs down too early in their life no matter how difficult He’s only got one life so help him out. Bet he still reacts positively to your attention amirite ??

There’s no perfect time- and can’t beat yourself up for being a few weeks early or late. Just give the guy all the happiness you can and make the call when you don’t feel like you are moving the needle enough.

Hopefully, this helps. Also its the fact that their senses are not all working well, my dog had cataract but could hear well. Yet the vet said her late-night panting was anxiety for the reasons I listed. Good luck!!

My vet gave me some lavender essential oil to help with one of my dog’s anxiety he suddenly started having. Off topic, but we figured out there was a smoke alarm chirping that was driving him crazy.
When I got home from the vet that day and put the oil on him, all 3 of my dogs passed out
Also, I definitely say put him in your room! I slept on a pallet with one we lost a few years ago at the end - it was comforting for both of us.
