I work in transportation. We stopped allowing "emotional support dogs."

A lot of people here assuming that these dogs just "travel everywhere" with their owners (not that it doesn't happen). I think some people get this classification to move their animals to a new home and get around potential residential restrictions. I would never fly with my pets, what a total pain in the arse. When I moved to FL, I drove to avoid flying with them. I understand the aggravation with the people who show up everywhere with their damn dogs, but it is always possible this was a one time move (prob not, though)

Why does it bother everyone?

I'll take a dog next to me over an infant every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I've flown on several flights on which someone had a dog. Not once has there been a problem.***

I've flown on many flights on which someone had an infant. Nearly every single time there was crying.

***I'm talking about real dogs, not those little ankle biters that people use as fashion accessories. Those little frickers can get annoying with their constant yapping. (Still not as bad as a crying baby though.)

I'm a huge dog lover, but if this was me being attacked that owner would be lucky we were on a plane. Otherwise I'd have buried a 4 inch pocket knife in that dogs throat the first chance I got.

And he "expressed concern" about the dog. I bet he said a few things and rover took care of business.

I will never understand how a man can let a 50 pound animal do that much damage to themselves. Maybe the guy let the dog get the best of him so he can get a huge settlement

You really don't understand how a dog that weighs 50 pounds can quickly bite someone's face? It's not like they were thrown into an octagon and forced to face off. For all you know the guy that was bit wasn't even paying attention.

Got the scar on my calf to prove they are mean bastards. My foot was on his throat when the owner stopped me.

Was a marines service issued dog.
I don't feel as bad now knowing that this wasn't some dip shite trying to get their animal to fly for free.
The marine sounded upset with the situation also.

The victim, Marlin Termaine Jackson, of Alabama, was taken to the hospital in stable condition, but with severe injuries to his face. A police report said that the dog's owner Ronald Kevin Mundy Jr., of North Carolina, was a military service member with the U.S. Marine Corps who said "the dog was issued to him for support.” The dog was listed in the police report as a “chocolate Lab pointer mix.” TMZ reported eyewitnesses heard Mundy crying, saying, "I know they're going to put him down."

He should put the dog down. Zero tolerance for dogs that bite people in public. He can get another dog.

And what does "he was issued the dog" mean? Was it not a "service" dog for a disability, but a combat dog? If so, that dog had no business being in a plane full of people. Jesus.

It was only a matter of time. Probably will happen more often. I was on a flight with a smelly mutt sitting int he row in front of me last week. No way that was a real trained support dog. It was the old hags mutt.

These people that bring their dogs just to take them on a trip should drive or leave the animal at home.

Aside from German Shephards for blind people, how the hell is it legal for you to bring a large dog on a plane? You have to be a total a-hole to do it.

This will be interesting. Emotional support dogs are not trained in any way or covered by ADA. The airlines might have to pay up.
