Doesn't it seem like we are always pushing ourselves towards an undefined goal.......

Yes we succeed in many of the small goals in which we define ourselves and our lives. Many people are very happy too.

That’s why the goal in life should be peace in one’s heart. If you set out to achieve happiness, it will never be achieved. You’ll always want another material possession, relationship, job, etc.
But if we set out to achieve peace in our heart, the happiness is a byproduct and one will find himself very happy.

But what of ambition? That drive to achieve more, create more, build more?
Inner Peace is lovely and all that, but there’s a quality to restlessness too. To having that drive to claim a bigger piece of the pie, to claw your way to the top of the pile.

Most people are caught up with trying to out do their friends and family with possessions aka keeping up with the Jones.
I have learned that material possessions don't define me . The love of my wife and kids is all I need to be happy.
