I’m the boss, and my assistant is a kiss arse. It’s endearing when it manifests as going the extra mile, but becomes annoying when he turns to flattery.

At my previous job I was next in line to my supervisor. When my supervisor announced he was leaving, our manager panicked. He told the manager that I was more than prepared and capable to take over for a seamless transition. 1 week later, our manager announced that our departmental kiss-arse would be the new supervisor. No job posting or interview process. The worst part is that spent most of my 10+ hours each day explaining to the kiss arse how to do his job. A month later I left and they’ve been in shambles ever since. frick em!

It’s not kissing arse. It’s politicking. You gotta make moves to get ahead son.

Assistant to the regional manager is different than assistant regional manager.
