I thought BR quit recycling glass because there wasn't a place they could sell it? I guess that is no longer the case.

I read somewhere that a guy developed a method to grind up all the glass into sand to be used on golf courses. That it ended up being cheaper than them buying actual sand.

Palm Beach County municipalities got back more than $220,000 in revenue from selling recycled materials in fiscal year 2018, according to a new report from the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County.

Solid waste authority has a revenue sharing plan they put in place in 2010. I think they have received back over $1m in revenue during that period. It will be interesting to see the numbers after China shut down their purchasing.

Most people I know in Louisiana just throw all their trash in the storm drains.

People I know from more progressive states, that actually don’t rank last in every major category, recycle.

That should tell you something.

I’ve talked to the man that oversees recycling center in our area. I keep seeing posts about pizza boxes but according to him they are fine. He says there are times they have to take them out and can’t recycle them but they don’t ruin the other recyclables around them and that’s mostly a myth. And many of the times they aren’t greasy or were cleaned out well and can be recycled

We have a separate recycling can for the curb here in Redlands, CA (I put cans, glass, newspaper, etc. in that). The State also charges 5 cents per drinking container (plastic water bottles, cans, beer bottles, soda cans, etc. I collect that separately, and take it to a recycling center where you can get the deposit back. Lately, it has been a 1 hour in line wait, so I just give closes person in line the bottles and cans I have in my truck. If they will wait 1 hour in line, they need the money more than me. Since, China has stopped that out plastic for recycling, that line has been long...

Yes I recycle. I'm not white trash.

At work we save our cans for the janitor ladies. They turn them in for cash. Sweet ladies, like to help them out.

Most ppl I know in Baton Rouge don’t know what goes in recycling (plastic bags, pizza boxes, styrofoam don’t go)

This.

I've been beating it into my wife's head forever, but she still thinks they want our greasy pizza boxes and chinese takeout boxes.

It's not rocket science. And being too masculine to put a beer bottle in a recycling bin went out with being too much of a cock to flush the toilet after you take a crap.
