Not for going, but allowing the child to be bitten is at least partly on the sitter IMO. How much depends on the facts that come out.

I don't know, but I'm not getting rid of my dog because it supposedly growled at someone. Bottom line. Without more facts, that is excessive to me, and nothing will change that. So no more questions about it

Because you have a personal leaning. To the objective outsider, a dog growling at a kid shows the potential for biting.
The story didn't say the kid was playing tug-o-way with the dog. It said the dog growled at the kid.
But you need further justification. Which fits your MO of not accepting things as reported unless it fits your argument.

Right, but it excludes the young from culpability, is all I'm saying.
Now the court could rule the sitter or the parents were partly responsible as is the Vet. To me, the Vet is mostly responsible and probably has liability insurance.
The dog should not be put down, IMHO. It does now have "one bite" on it's record.

Right, because it's perfectly rational to see the sentence "my dog supposedly growled, I got rid of it" and say nope, nothing excessive there.

My dog growls at my niece or another child...it is reasonable for me to get rid of the dog.
