I consider culturally “The South” to be only Alabama, Missippi, Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina.
Next one in would be Arkansas.
Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, And New Mexico are southwest, more west and not part of the antebellum “south”
North Carolina, Virginia, And Md east of 95 is basically the mid Atlantic states, farming country, of revolutionary times
WVA, Kentucky, Tenn, and western Carolina, western VA are all part of Appalachia
Next one in would be Arkansas.

The amount of Texans that really believe this is a little disturbing. Texas really is an awesome state, but get a grip. There are a lot of fantastic places to live in the United States outside of the Texas border.

Just like South La is South La
I dont consider either Southern in regards to the typical characteristics
Georgia, mississippi, north LA,alabama, south carolina, and the non mountain parts of tenn and NC feel like the same place to me
