I have 2 sons that live in the Marigny, living the semi hipster lifestyle. I trying to convince them to move to Texas for a better future.

Jeez, I can understand maybe they have a year or two, but six years in Texas schools and your kids will be six years ahead of Louisiana kids.

Yeah it’s laughable when someone delays moving from Louisiana Bc of their kid’s school. As if Louisiana has a monopoly on schools.

And guys, women here actually can have a real, decent career and not just hope to sell real estate, work in a bank, work for a crappy attorney or work in government. You are likely to meet hot, educated women with connections, a great job and career path.

it's because they don't want to uproot them as teenagers, not the quality of schools.

All I’ll say is I spent 26 years in Louisiana before moving to Houston (now I live in Austin), and if I ever have to move back to Louisiana I will commit suicide.

With six years to go they aren't teenagers. Believe me, they'll recover and be better for it.

You are dumb

Get out of the oil field and you may see the real state.

Texas is by far the greatest state in the US, why do you think all of these major companies are moving. Not because of fat people and pickup trucks

At least Texas is better than Arizona. Arizona has crappy Senators, limited water, English a second language, and is the stinkiest state I have ever visited. That being said, AZ is better than MS and AL.

You clearly have never spent any time in Scottsdale or been up north to Sedona or Flagstaff.

I was making sure you aren’t judging the entire state by some place like Mesa or Tucson

Phx metro area isn’t all bad (example....Scottsdale).

I'm uprooting 3 teenagers and short selling my house to get out of Louisiana for a job upgrade in Texas. The immediate cash hit really hurts, but damn if it won't be worth it to be in an economy, infrastructure, and education system miles and miles beyond anything that Louisiana could ever achieve during my lifetime.

I've served my time here and wouldn't wish that upon my kids, so I'm making it easy for them.

Got to love Rudy's, where you can fill up your gas tank, get a pound of brisket, a quart of green chile stew, and a couple six packs to go.

And they have the step-n-pull in the restroom.
