We see it in this thread, I am not an atheist but we see the weak attacking me. I started this thread knowing what was going to happen, but confifdent my faith.

I don't see how these two thoughts contradict.

One can be atheist and still marvel at biology and science. As far as design of life, an atheist may believe that there was some design at play, just may not believe that a god or a singular power is behind it all.

I get more “mad” at the blindly, over religious than an atheist.

I agree with this.

Personally, I'm agnostic. I don't know what happens and I will never pretend to have any clue aside from my personal belief. I believe we are all one and our processing can't comprehend what that means in terms of how we should act, and we are still figuring it out. Even with that belief, I struggle to wrap my head around having empathy for others in all situations. People on this board, for example, I have a disdain not for one individual, but for the representation of a state in which many people I grew up around were ignorant and close-minded. That's a hard mindset for me to get out of even with the belief that when I'm being rude to one person I'm being rude to a part of myself.

When I was younger I would claim that I was atheist, partially because I really didn't believe there was a maker and I was a little more hard-headed. I still lean that way, but I'm pretty set in that my final answer will always be along the lines of "I don't know, I'll never know, and if there is a maker I think I've done a decent job of being a good person." But when asked about religion in my late teens and early twenties in this state, I did get a lot of people treating me differently if I stated my belief. I learned to not say anything about it.

I think people who are on a message board are generally going to be a little more open-minded. Ask this question on FB and you'll see more vitriol for atheists.

historically? yes.
nowadays? not at the same frequency

eta: to refine my point, i guess it also heavily depends on the setting.

Pieces of the ground
Silly monkeys
Give them thumbs, they make a club
To beat their brother down
How they've survived so misguided is a mystery
Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability
To lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here

Being an atheist requires thinking critically about the world
Not really. It can come about as the result of anger, rebellion or being raised by atheists among other reasons.

I mean, you can't not embrace The Great Commission, but you can certainly spread thr Word without being annoying.

Mad? Not at all. Believe whatever you want. I’ve just noticed that atheists have a habit of inserting themselves into any conversation that even remotely touches on faith or religion.

They share their opinion when faith is being discussed? The horror. Better than inserting faith into any topic or conversation like a lot of Christians I know.

I know, right? All those atheists walking around wearing their atheist jewelry, putting “Darwin I trust in you” signs in their front yards, and stopping people before meals for some quick discourse on the origin of species. I’m just overwhelmed by all the public facing atheism I experience on a daily basis

Frankly, we're talking about 2 different things. When Christians (for simplicity) make outward displays of affirmation, cross jewelry, WWJD bumper stickers, etc., this is a form of testimony which is sort of required of them.

What some of us are saying is that self-righteousness (which IS a common sin of believers - the churches are full of self-righteous sinners who are super interested in pointing out the sins of others to draw attention away from their own sins) is a common fault of atheists. If correctly following the faith, Christians will endeavor to set good examples and affirm their faith, even to non-believers.

All atheism has, at least in a religious discussion, is "self-righteousness" to offer. Now I do find some atheists/agnostics to be deeply spiritual people.
I mean, some will appeal more to rationality, "science", etc., and those folks do appear to fall on the atheist/agnostic line. But atheism in this context at least applies to "militant" atheism.

If that's not you, my apologies. When your more militant brothers say words like "evangelicals" and they can barely do so without vomiting, that's who we're talking about here. I just haven't found them to be all that outlierish. The "evangelicals" who mention Jesus in every sentence that you folks seem afraid of ARE outliers, and I hail from one of the notches in the Bible belt.

It seems like religions that teach to be forgiving and loving shouldn't mind, and I am looking at all religions.
Jesus only has so much patience for their disbelief and it’s time to collect:

“For the Lord thy God is a jealous fire, and His eyes search the hearts of men as the dawn uncovers secrets. Tread not upon His covenant with idle hands or crooked lips, for His vengeance is as the lion’s pounce—silent, swift, and sure. Blessed is he who fears the Lord, but woe unto the mocker, for even the mountains shall not hide him.”

This is why it should be only discussed with like minded individuals, the would would be much happier. I do have problems with radical Muslims, but that is their problem to solve and hopefully I can be for the sake of the women.

Nowhere in my post did I say that. All I said was not every atheist has taken time out to truly consider their beliefs.

Atheist are like vegetarians and cross fitters. They have to ell everybody about their goofiness within 30 seconds of meeting them and are always recruiting and wanting to shite on alternate viewpoints.

You've almost certainly met far more atheists and agnostics than you think, but only remember the few loud ones.

Honestly not sure how many of even my friends even know I'm non-religious because it's so far out of mind and just doesn't come up, much less random acquaintances or strangers.
