What do you want EXACTLY?

In 1991 I knew 2 of the brightest kids in the state and LSU didn’t even give them a glance. It must be their policy.
FYI they are both MDs in Louisiana.

Cause they know he will get the top level tops

I know this post won’t be popular but do you really want your kid living in Baton Rouge?

Same with my kids...1 a nation merit finalist scholar.
Out of state schools throwing full schollies at both of them
..LSU tops and a pittence..not even close...It was a slap in the face...they both did great out of state with full rides.
I guess Louisiana really doesn't care to keep their brightest here.

They make more on the out of State students.

Is LSUs enrollment hurting? Maybe they are getting all the in state kids they want already.

I don't speak special Ed. Can you explain how 3 laughing emojis answers the question?

My two high school seniors in Shreveport have not heard anything from LSU after applying in the fall. They have great grades and test scores. They heard from all other out of state schools before Christmas (LSU only in-state school they applied to), and we've proceeded in enrolling in an out of state school that offered early. I've reached out to the LSU admissions counselor the first week of March and the response was "should hear something in a month".

Eh there is no reason to go out of state to another S.E.C. state school. Doesn’t do anything. Maybe the kids feel cooler telling their highschool class they are going somewhere else but there’s no additional value and in fact it’s worse if they plan to be in Texas for a job. Texas has a ton of successful LSU grads, you don’t see many Bama grads.

With that score he has already qualified for a presidential scholarship to Louisiana Tech. Full scholly with a stipend.

Except potentially pocketing tens of thousands of dollars and not having to live in BR. That’s something.

There's different levels of tops
Posted on 3/24/24 at 10:28 pm to DrrTiger
LSU is cheap and you get TOPS no?
Posted on 3/24/24 at 10:36 pm to PGAOLDBawNeVaBroke
TOPS doesn’t cover fees, books, room or board. Not really comparable to places that are full or near-full rides.
Posted on 3/24/24 at 10:38 pm to DrrTiger
You’d get a full ride at LSU with a 34 ACT. You could get more than 1/2 paid at Tulane with that if gpa is also strong.

Schools don’t really like in state students they prefer out of state or international because they can charge more.

Yeah that is a flat out lie. Kid I coached had a 36 and still didn’t get a full ride to LSU. He’s currently a freshman. Same with my kid, 33 and she’d owe 15k with TOPS due to fees/room/board. ULL, ULM, and Tech offer 3-10x what LSU offered. It’s a joke honestly.
