Been to Boston on several occasions. Plenty of attractive women. Y'all must be fat and ugly. There are tons of colleges which means there are tons of good looking women. Just walk down newbury.

I was there for a week and saw some good looking women.

I had a blast, but I was there in August.

Boston is a tremendous place to live. Homes/rent is expensive, for sure. But don't listen to the idiots who say it's miserable 8 months out of the year. It's not that fricking bad. Some winters you get a ton of snow, and that sucks, but some winters there is none.

Then you say, come visit in may. Makes it seem like it is that shitty 8 months out of the year.

Baton Rouge is an even smaller city with a lot of college aged people. I know Baton Rouge isn't as nice as Boston, but if that's what you are going for, there are a lot of towns like that that don't get as cold.

I think he meant small city in terms of footprint, in that Boston is relatively walkable, whereas Baton Rouge is decidedly not.

Yeah I knew exactly what he meant when he said "small city". You can walk from one end of Boston "proper" to the other in a little under an hour. And like you said, Baton Rouge is not walkable at all.

I grew up outside there and went to undergrad in BOS. If you hate the cold, stay away. If you can at least tolerate it, it's a fantastic city/region. Easy access to beaches, fishing, skiing (I know, it's not powder like the west), and hiking in ME, NH, VT. Montreal is not too far and is a great place to visit. History is great as well.

Went to grad school up there. Lived in the student slums of Alston. Adjusting to not driving but once every couple of weeks took some getting used to. My wife and I were able to travel pretty extensively while being broke students. As previously stated, the cost of living is extremely high. Only a couple of weeks during the winter were really bad.

I know its cold crowded and expensive as hell. But what else?

My sister, BIL and family moved to Boston for a "great" job offer. Had the same offer been extended in the south, it would have been a helluva deal. They saw dollar signs and hit tye road. The cost of living and cost of a home now has them living a somewhat lower quality of life than before they moved there.

Do the math thoroughly before you decide. And prepare to freeze your arse off for several months a year.

It's more about the good outweighing the bad.
