It’s what happens when there is zero traffic enforcement. I remember the days when NOPD had traffic cops. Those days are long gone. I’m sure it is the same in BR.

The only traffic enforcement I see with any regularity in Baton Rouge is on I-10 EB and WB by Highland Road.

This is enforced by the Louisiana State Police (laser and radar), which makes sense because Louisiana Troop A is right down the road.

EBRSO used to run radar on the interstates of the parish, but I no longer see that. And I don't think I have seen a BRPD run radar/laser on the interstates within the city limits in years.

Could just be in my head, but I rarely see any traffic law enforcement compared to when I was a teen driver 20+ years ago.

I generally have no fear of being stopped for a traffic violation in baton rouge.

I drive a lot for work and it’s getting worse by the day.

In the left lane going below the speed limit. I don't give a frick if someone needs to turn a mile and a half away.

That is a satisfactory definition.

Though, this left lane business only applies on the interstate.

Last Friday I was heading East on hooper road and a gravel truck blew through the red light by St Pius a full 3-4 seconds after it turned red.
Yesterday an 18 wheeler went through the same red light, but it had only been red for a second and a half, or so.
Good way to broadside someone.

Don’t know about the others, but passing lane cruising is 100% at an all-time high.

It really does seem like people are just more insane, in general, on the road.

Freaking construction workers and idiot Louisiana drivers with zero respect for their lives or anyone else’s with nothing to lose if they die in a traffic accident. Same same.

Have seen it with quite a few soccer moms in Suburbans with backseat video screens playing cartoons going 90mph on winding highways too.

Damn near go rammed by an idiot going at least 20 mph over the speed limit on the Bonnet Carré Spillway this afternoon. Of course it was a Dodge Charger weaving in and out of lanes

You can take comfort in the fact that LA State Police is restarting their click it or ticket fundraiser. They will be on the lookout for unrestrained vehicle occupants.

Yep.

Used to be you'd just see a try hard in a red sports car driving that fast.

Now it's pickups and SUVs. I can go 60 in a 50 on a winding country road and people will tailgate and pass at the first opportunity.

I've had recent experiences on the Central Expressway and it's quite an experience at 7:30 and 4:30ish.

It seems a lot of fender benders occur near Choctaw.
