I have a friend who said the dealership is going to charge $3000 to change the breaks on his Range Rover. I told him there is no way this is even close to what it should cost but I also own an older truck so maybe I just have no clue. What do y’all think? Sense everyone here probably drives a Range Rover or better I figured the OT would know.

Not even close

OT Ballers don’t spend less than 5k on brake changes. Your friend is what we call “a poor”

Sounds about right. The tools used to do that are only made by LandRover and brakepads are made from moon parts.

I don’t know what is different about Range Rover brakes, but that is insane.

And we trade them in before they need brakes.

Changing brakes should be one of those things a man should do on his own.

It would’nt cost that much to change pads, Calipers, and rotors.

I just changed my front brakes (pads only) for about 65 bucks. Took about 30 minutes.

According to this google, it should cost a few hundred dollars. Who knows if it's reliable, but it makes a lot more sense.

It's a Range Rover. They're giant pieces of shite that people pay $80k+ for in hopes of making it to 100,000 miles. Of course the dealership is going to gouge the frick out of prices. Sorry your friend bought the leftover trash heap of a doctor/dentist.

Thats because they are telling him that he needs all new rotors and everything. Its a scam.

Bought my wife a Jaguar S-Type 10 years ago. Only had it a few years. Took it in to the dealership for a few recalls and they sent us a estimate for $1400 for brakes at 21K miles Said they could not turn the rotors that were on the vehicle, they had to be replaced everytime. I was like why are the rotors bad at 21K?

Long story short, I took it to a friend/mechanic and he replaced the pads for $200 or so on all 4 wheels. The factory pads suck and you cant turn the rotors but they were fine and did not need changing.

There are a few rules in life in car buying. Two of them are don't ever buy anything from the past 2 decades from Land Rover or Jaguar.

Still will do it, for $2890 since I’ve started a bidding war.

Tell your friend to get rid of that POS and get a Cayenne like the rest of the OT.
