Guys what helped me get my ditches cleaned above you guys.

Take pictures after heavy flood and put street address of each picture.

Email dpw and your councilperson.

They will get a work order.
Now they are only going to clean what’s on the work order.
If your neighbors want their cleaned etc take picture with water and address same email.

Host a politicial debate and make friends with councilpeople. Just joking, but take pictures of ditches with water and state the problem.

Then your ditch gets cleaned the next day.

I have not seen city parish clean a ditch in the area since she has been in office. The only time they cut the grass is when someone complains about how tall it is.

And when the do cut the grass, they leave the clippings in the street to wash down the drainage and clog them up. The management of this city is absolutely pathetic on all levels.

It wasn’t just 7+ inches of rain. It was 7+” of rain in 2 hours. Nowhere is able to handle that kindness of volume that quickly.

Yes I agree the mgmt of dpw lacks.

What you need to do is push like a prick by emailing pictures to councilperson with issue, mayors office, and dpw.

You have to push to get things done which is a shame.

My plan a councilperson for St Geoege would be to look at existing neighborhoods and check drainage all over the city. Clean claycut bayou and then back track to neighborhoods in systematic approach cleaning ditches 100% or replacing culverts, repairs, etc by neighborhood.

- do we need dredging of claycut bayou
- do we need levees with flood gates and pumps at gates to keep backflow water out.
- do we need clean existing ditches, repair or clean culverts, and clean or repair storm drains.

Look at federal funding to help speed up the process, reduce tax payer cost, and if I had to get training in writing grants I could do that.

I got pic Antoich and Jefferson flooded at 11 am. That unacceptable a major road flooded.
I have pics too lazy to post.

Old Jefferson majors entrance Baringer & currency flooded how can Emergency services get in unacceptable . I do not have a report from Woodlawn acres but we need to address these issues or the area will go down.

Then work with Iberville, St James, Livingston, and Ascension to dredge lower Amite and build canal to Miss river which flows both ways with pumps. We need to fight for federal funding before Yankees and Ar Kansas people get it for their projects.

It took 3 eighteen wheeler loads to clean the ditch at the house I bought and a Graydol. That is parish neglect not homeowner neglect.

I don't know this regarding EBR, but as an example only, a lack of DPW cleaning out drainage ditches and maintaining those structures could cause this.

You haven't seen the giant fans she placed in NBR to blow bad weather south? You didn't see all the BRPD officers out there with giant squeegees pushing all the water in streets and ditches southward? What about her legislation that said water must run to lower areas and eventually south down to the Gulf?

Where the hell have you been??

You are part of the problem!!
Lets not have anybody do their jobs.
Lets us the tax payers take care of it for them while they sleep in the truck.
No need in holding them accountable.

"IF" you are an employer or manager do you do your employees jobs????

Because if I see trash in the storm drain opening, I remove it myself? I guess

I know the city government is shite on left and right on here but I have always been very pleased with the trash pickup and services like that.

Unless the object blocking the drain is too big for you to move, just go do it yourself. I like my neighborhood clean and I dont rely on daddy govt to do everything for me like you apparently do

Arguing not going to solve anything.

Some fault Mother Nature and it is just a lot of rain in a short period of time.

Some just neglect by people in area dumping trash in ditches.

Some city parish not maintaining ditches which go back farther than Mayor Doome.

If the City of St George becomes a city then the people here have a choice to fix the problems.

Voters and their elected representatives need to look at the issues and start with most important problems first. A grocery store in a food desert area not a major issue at this time or paying for COA senior prom.

I would say traffic and flooding would be on the top of the list.

Again, it will be up to the people in the city to elect the right people that will try to do the best job possible for the city to flourish.

If a person elected and tries their best, but falls short I would never criticize that person.
There are going to be bumps.
If the city leaders stay focused things will be better for residents long term that should be the #1 goal.
