"Manufacturing Consent" is probably the best explanation of why mainstream media cannot be trusted. And it emanates from the political left.

Fact-check.org will show you who is the biggest fricking liar of them all. Don’t be a hypocrite people. Do real research. Everything, almost everything, can be looked up. Trumpers are literally the dumbest people alive. Look at your fellow comrades. Trump was mad the insurrectionists were all trashy morons. That should open your eyes. Yet you overlook everything for him. What the f does he do for you that you are so willing to toss away any resemblance of being a decent human being? The whole world laughs at you. He literally sets an example of disgust so you don’t have to hide your racism and xenophobia anymore? His lies literally killed so many. Yay! The election wasn’t even close guys. He never said or implied that. He's saying that if someone is a liar, don't believe anything they say. That doesn't mean everything they say is a lie; it just means their utterances can't be trusted.
