I have heard that Scientology is also "relatively large" in Germany. By "relatively large," I mean in comparison to other nations. There just aren't that many Scientologists in the world.

Thank goodness.

Go watch the "Going Clear" documentary that Leah Rimini did a few years back. She was wrapped up in it and I think brought up in the church/cult.

It's mostly interviews with folks that have left the church and honestly it's wild that an organization like that is even allowed to operate, let alone completely tax free.

Do they just have money to buy the best attorneys or are these like legit members who are attorneys in their day job?

I'm sure there are some attorneys in the cult, but my comment was focused primarily on how they use their deep pockets to buy representation to tie up their undesirables in litigation and keep their non-profit status strong.

So are there like normal people with day jobs who go to a service once a week like say Christianity or Judaism? I thought I was reading that Scientology basically puts these people to work and often causes them to work 100 hours a week. Reading about Gold Base and The Hole was fascinating. People basically go on there and lots end up “missing” or whatever because they aren’t allowed to leave or communicate with anyone.

These are like Southern Scientologist. Like Southern Jews. They have Christmas trees and shite.

Plus they are the ones that make the junior members work the 100 hours and then make them go missing. They have high clearance. Allegedly.

You should check out the doco on Netflix about Scientology. If you haven't seen it, it will most likely make you change your mind. I'm no expert on this, but I hope that you have enough money to donate.

From what I know of it, is that in order to more up the rankings in the "church" you have to purchase more "bibles" that become exponentially more expensive. So it's basically just one giant Ponzi scheme.

appears to have staying power.

Their membership numbers have dramatically reduced. They are amassing quite a bit of real estate, but their base is a fraction of what it used to be.

Bad press and people like Leah Remini are really hurting them.

Now, they'll always be rich, but I think they have very few people now. Most of their satellite locations, in these big, often beautiful buildings, are run by a handful of people.

I noticed that. Almost all of their buildings are legitimately great. Lots of old historic buildings they’ve purchased and that newer facility in Florida was like 9 figures to build. They definitely put on a “good” show.

Because L. Ron Hubbard was one of the most prolific science fiction authors to have ever lived. And the stories from his pulp fiction writings are all reflected in his "religious" writings.

He recycled his science fiction material and called it a religion.
