Why would you need a few doorbells?

do the window sensors stand out and look tacky
I have the Ring system and in fairness, the sensors are pretty big. I think the newer generation of the sensors are smaller than the ones I bought but they are not tiny. After a while you don't notice them on the doors and they can be hidden by blinds on windows.
All in all a good system that's easy to install and cheap for professional monitoring.

Thanks everyone, I just ordered a couple of doorbells, flood lights and cameras. Main concern is having eyes on the outside. I will have to revisit the window sensors after we move in. We have a ton of windows so I am not sure if wifey is going to want them.

I'm surprised no one brought up that a couple months ago or maybe a year ago the ring security system was the one on the news saying it was easily hacked and people were watching through the cameras.
I would assume they tried to bolster w/e the exploit or weakness was but that alone would make me wary about choosing it.

Heck, if someone wanted to bypass a ring system, all they would have to do is cut a wire feeding your wifi system.
Most houses are wire feed for internet.

You can buy the retrofit kit and hook it up to your existing wired sensors. It’s worked great for me so far.

They could also Jam the wifi using a cheap device readily available on the internet
But porch bandits ain't got time for that

Ring Security has 2 generations now. 2nd generation came out earlier this year. Door and window sensors are slimmer/smaller, and it has a cellular backup included in the $10/month package.
I have the 2nd gen and have no complaints. All my trim work is white and matches the sensors though. Also if you have double hung windows you'd need to have two sensors on each window - just something to think about. Or just assume no one will break in from the upper half of a window and put the sensors on the bottom.
ETA: 1st gen also has cellular backup.

What if you live on a busy street? Does all the traffic activate the sensors?

Interesting. When'd you get yours? I remember researching when they first came out and it was one of the biggest drawbacks. Guess they added it later on, or whatever I was reading was just misinformed.

You can adjust the zones that sense motion. If you live on a busy street you can select to monitor only the zones nearest the camera. In addition to adjusting zones, you can also adjust the sensitivity. The latest cameras have more image filtering intelligence and can distinguish humans and only alert when it's a person.

I haven't kept up with their hardware updates at all, but AFAIK I have the 1st gen (I can discern 8 individual led's in the "ring"). And I'm sure it has cellular backup because it says it all over the app, there's a signal meter in the app, there's an LED on the device itself, and the "ring is using cellular backup" notification is often my first indication that my home internet has gone down.

I have Nest doorbell cam. We we researched and compared the two that's what we though was the better option.
I like having it. I would recommend it.
Only downside is I had to pay someone $100 to wire it up. When I tried myself all I did was screw up my doorbell.
