Question is in the title. Moving to a new home a few weeks and was thinking about getting a few ring doorbells and the security system. Does anyone have it? Do you like it?

I have the doorbell Pro and the indoor security system - I like it. I would probably get more use out of it if I had kids. My house is 3bed, 2 bath.. about 1700 square feet (I'm OT poor) and it comes with enough sensors to do all the doors and a few windows.

The only thing I don't get much use out of is the indoor motion detector. I also bought another camera that I mounted up in the corner of the living room to keep an eye on my cat when I go out of town.

They finally made it possible to dim the light and turn down the volume on the base station. That frickin thing would light up a stadium.

Why would you need a few doorbells?

Have the security camera, 3 spotlights, the pro doorbell.

For a basic alarm system, it is fine, the $10/month for monitoring and video storage is hard to beat.

I am a bit disappointed with it as I wanted a smart home/zwave hub. Although the system can act as a hub, you can’t do anything like scheduling lights, etc.. The outdoor cameras also use a ton of bandwidth, ~15gb a month on the doorbell (lowest) all the way up to 70gb a month on the most “active” spotlight. 20% of my monthly data (1tb) is tied up with these cameras.

Anyone with the system, do the window sensors stand out and look tacky?

I have 19 cameras running and have no issues with internet cap. Love the alarm. I switched from paying $35 a month to using the yearly fee I already had for the cameras.

Good question. That was my concern as well.

I did not like them at first but its one of those things you get used to. I hadn't thought about them in a while.

I did try to paint one to match the wood door to make it not stand out as much.

I will say I would recommend getting the wired cameras for outside. My cameras are dead right now cause I keep forgetting to charge the batteries.

You’d think someone would sell a palette of stickers to fit them to alleviate the issue

That’s my wife’s main hangup with it. We’re paying $40/month for traditional monitoring system that runs on our weak cell signal, and they’re telling us we’re about to have to upgrade it for like $400. But it’s already wired into the house and the windows and you can’t really see it.

We are probably going to order the ring system and see if we can get used to it

Costco has a good deal (I think) on a 10 piece system.

That is solid. We’ll probably do the 14 piece on Prime Day for $200.

We want a pad in our bedroom and one by the door to our garage and the 14 piece system comes with two pads and enough sensors for our downstairs windows.

How is this Ring's fault? You bought it knowing what it was and what it wasn't, you can't say you are disappointed with it because it is't a different product.

I have it. It's been flawless. Some of my sensors are up higher and you cannot see them in the blinds. They are bright white and match my trim so they blend in

Just purchase a smartthings hub and connect to your ring devices and any other 'smart' things. My set up works well together this way.
