Our Library Board was making a statement. They told us they can do what in the heck they want and you need to shut up.

That they have too much money to spend?

They build a giant library barely a mile away 10 years ago (Carver). No one uses that either.

Looks like they are going for the "Top Golf" look.

The top floor will make a nice restaurant with decent views when they have to repurpose the building.....because libraries today are kind of pointless.

Looks like it belongs on the strip at Branson.

The Perot Museum is badass. There's a dinosaur skeleton at the top of that glass escalator shaft that you can see from the road.

But I also think that IBM building is pretty ugly.

Really? I think a taller version wouldn't look out of place in the Chicago loop. That's a compliment.

Anything along the river is going to have massive windows, which is going to lend itself to a modern design. Contemporary glass facades are actually very energy efficient.

Looks like the architect was on a mix of shrooms and coke

It might be, but it's hideous on the outside. It looks like it was done by an architect that was trying to show off.

Even Frank Lloyd Wright fricked up like that occasionally after his career (and ego) expanded beyond his wildest dreams. The Guggenheim is one of my least favorite buildings in New York. Fallingwater is beautiful but completely impractical for its intended purpose.

Why do they call 'em "buildings" if they're already finished building them? Oughta call 'em "builts".

Anything modern in terms of architecture is dogshit. Will look worse as each decade passes.

Would it not be better if we opened libraries in vacant retail spaces? Cost savings would be unbelievable and you could have small neighborhood libraries through out each city.

Good to see they think they fixed it, but I still wouldn’t walk under that cantilever.

Think? Nah, it's good now.

I'm not crazy about the narrow base and overhang in that fashion.

I don't mind some modern architecture though. I liked the renovation of the Speed Art Museum here in Louisville.

This is a must watch for anyone who feels the same way or really, for anyone. Shitty architecture is deliberate.
