It's silly.
Waste of materials and square footage and will be more difficult to live in and maintain than a conventional building would have been.
All costs borne by a Parish that does not have extra money to spend, most especially on a dinosaur such as a brick & mortar Library.
All to serve some egos (mainly in the Architectural world).

That is the ugly...
The construction
The cost
The need

Good to see they think they fixed it, but I still wouldn’t walk under that cantilever.

It's not a great design but it's not bad. I would like to see what it's like inside with all the natural light. It's looks like a poor man's version of the Seattle Public Library which is an amazing building, especially the interior.

Did they fix the structural problems?

It looks like a cheese grater and a Buick Skylark radiator were first cousins but decided to have a kid together anyway.

I like it better with Mammoet support columns.

I hate it, but I hate most modern architecture.

neighboring "modernist" structures are much more attractive.
The new library looks really cheap, especially from the sides.

I don't like cheap looking modern design. Meaning a lot of paneling and ugly cladding.
I like some - usually heavy glass and metal.
But I also think that IBM building is pretty ugly. Very 00s hospital vibe.

It's definitely safer with those jacks.

The stone around the base saves the design. I like it.
I also like the IBM logo.

Looks like they are going for the "Top Golf" look.
Easier to throw all the upcoming banned books on the bonfire from up there.

There are a lot of better examples of forward thinking architecture in downtown Baton Rouge, including a mid century modern office building by A Hays Town.
The giant whistle (library) looks derivative and cheap.
