Other than maybe Madison, what exactly do they have out there that isn’t in any of BR’s suburbs?

Not as much traffic, but the fact that there is a serious conversation comparing BR and Jackson should tell you all you need to know about BR.

BR is not that great at all but the hate kind of goes overboard on here sometimes. It largely is what you make of it.

I could live there and not what to off myself, but it's pretty objectively bad for the 25-35 single crowd. Little job oppurtunity, not much night life for that age, etc. I think you can raise a family there though.

If it weren’t for family here, many of us would live (or seriously consider living) somewhere else.

My parents are one of the big reasons I decided to come back to Louisiana.

When I retire, I'm gone. They can come with me if they're still around.

Given the seemingly endless number of these "BR Sucks" threads, there must be something to it. I like BR and as bad as it can be it is leaps and bounds better than the real $hithole I used to live in.

Still, you can't ignore just how much so many people seem to hate it here.

Too much of BR has been taken over and turned to complete shite. BR is mostly an ugly, unclean, unsafe city. "They" ruin everything. Can't wait to leave.

2 thing:

1. Family is there.
2. Scared to make a commitment as large as moving hours away.

Seems pretty clear to me that the large majority of the people that don't like living there use those reasons.

Are they really though? By what objective measurements?

If you can't see that things are much worse in BR now under Broome and her administration than in the recent past, I don't know what to tell you.

There has been little to no new economic development or infrastructure improvements, crime is way up, she's emboldened criminals by castrating the police and generally making law enforcement public enemy #1, the Metro Council is a clown show and a few of the members appear to be mentally ill, and if you disagree with the current regime, you are labeled a racist by the "community activists" who continue to incite racial disharmony at every available opportunity.

Also, there is no part of New Orleans that is "charming". One of the most overrated cities in America.

Have you been to Uptown? Easily one of America's most beautiful neighborhoods. Don't be a hater.

can you imagine how much both NO and BR would improve if we just had smooth streets and sidewalks?

Yes, they do. But if you speak up about it, you will get attacked.

Uptown is awesome.

It's too bad you can't drive on the streets through it without possibly high centering your car on a pot hole or live there without a good possibility of getting burglarized. The homes are awesome, but the city itself is a shite hole and there isn't a neighborhood where you can escape it.
