Birmingham is a shithole’s shithole. Leaving BR completely outta the discussion Birmingham objectively sucks.

Most places are what you make of it.

I’ll have to disagree with you about Little Rock and especially Birmingham
Travel to both often, LR is terrible
Birmingham is making strides and BR should follow that plan.

Trying to get my husband to leave now. One kid moving back to Texas with Costco possibly, another one has a year left at LSU. I am so ready to go. I would love to go back to Fort Worth or Mansfield Texas.

As my old man used to say "Wherever you go, there you is"
Maybe it's YOU, not the place.

I grew up splitting time between NBR and SBR... I've lived all over the city/parish in my 33yrs... my home now is in proposed St George area... I will vote for St George, but I can't see myself staying in EBR for the long haul, St George or not... my family is from Morgan City and Addis... I'm gonna move across the river in a year or two, and I couldn't be happier... something about open land, woods, water and less people is way more attractive to me... id rather raise a family there than in this city
BR gave me a home and a job, but I'll be damned if I raise any little corndogs here, if I have the chance to raise them in a place with less crime and more open areas for them to grow, explore and play

Hate isn't the proper word. Baton Rouge was fine before I had a child. Now that I have a toddler, I'm gone. This city is not where I want to raise my son.

In general BR has a high cost of living for lower wage. Plus add in having to pay private school tuition while still contributing tax money towards a terrible school system.

60’s thru early 80’s Baton Rouge was a great little town to raise a family.
I lived in Southern California 80’s - 2000’s was a nice place to live and raise kids.
Today BR has a lot of negatives public schools, traffic, taxes not being directed properly, and crime.

Yup! Didn’t realize how much I hated Baton Rouge/SE LA until I moved away. Now live in a city that’s about equal in size but is better in just about every facet aside from the culinary scene.

Born and raised in Louisiana, lived in BR for 5 years until moving back home to Houma. Much happier down south away from BR
I just wish I could grow the balls to move to Colorado. Single and could find a great job there but leaving my aging parents haunts me. Currently perusing jobs around Glenwood Springs CO.
Any OT’ers have advice?

Lived in California for years which I loved it.
It was hard the older my parents the more I worked with my siblings to take turns coming home to take care of them.
It is never a good choice.
My advice go up there check it out or you will regret never doing it.

Moving my family from Baton Rouge to Boulder, CO was the best decision I've ever made. The quality of life is so much better here. You just don't realize just how screwed up Baton Rouge, and all of Louisiana for that matter, is until you move away.

Some of you fricks need to get out of BR & NOLA and experience real traffic. Try LA, Austin, Dallas, Bay Area, NYC, ATL, Jackson etc... BR is a walk in the park compared to a ton of big and similar sized cities.

You can’t compare traffic in BR with cities like Austin or Dallas. Austin is four times the size of BR, but traffic here moves better. It still sucks to be stuck in it, but at least it flows.

Goat Rider, can you elaborate?
I’m considering a move to CO and would like insight. I love hiking, overlanding etc.
How bad are the winters in Boulder? Ever have to chain your tires etc
