I don't really care about a legacy, I just want to live long enough to raise all of my kids and see them start their own families.
If they remember me fondly when I'm gone that's even better, but I'm not here to make friends. I'm here to raise functioning members of society

Wanting to leave a legacy is fine. Thinking you actually will is naive.
99.99% of people who have ever lived are completely forgotten within 2 generations of their passing.
That will likely never change.
How many of you know who your 8 great grandparents were? Their names, where they were from, what they did? Heck 2 of my grandparents were passed before I was even born, so I know almost nothing about them beyond what I was told.
Tears in rain.

I've funded a few pavers at a couple museums, other than that no one will remember you after a couple generations.

This is the main reason I do not see this the importance of the traditional cemeteries anymore. Probably after your grandchildren are gone no one really cares anymore. Ashes to Ashes dust to dust for this fella. My legacy for my three kids is knowing that I tried my best to be a great dad for them and a great grandfather to their kids.

My legacy is not about me… it’s about leaving behind a family that lives a good life.
I fear dying as one of these loser, deadbeat men who didn’t have the balls to be a leader of his pack.

Thanks. Her grandmother says “she only talks with you”, Because I don’t ask for anything. She’s a successful person. A lot of her family aren’t. She bought me Eldin Ring. I can’t get past the tutorial…lol

And if I finally die in peace
Just wrap my body in these sheets
And pour out the gasoline
It don't mean much to me

And pour out the gasoline
It don't mean much to me

Depends on why you want to leave a legacy and whether it’s for personal glory or to better the world, sense of responsibility or to make an impact. Personal glory is narcissistic while bettering things is noble.

I just want my family to remember me fondly. They say very few people are remembered past their grandchildren.

I used to think it was silly, but when my old man died, I realized he had helped a lot of people in his life and many of them reached out, which made me feel good about my origin.

Nope. When I’m gone, I’m gone. Nobody will care soon after and go on with their lives.
Same with work. Nobody gives a shite about you, and they’ll be just fine without you. Nothing is more aggravating than the hoarder of work, job security guy. You’re not as smart as you think you are, but keep working 80 hour weeks so you don’t have to show/teach anyone anything. We’ll figure it out pretty easily and more efficiently once you’re gone.

I've done what I can for as many as I can.
I don't do it to win favor with people or God; that's a fool's errand.
I do it because it's the right thing to do, and that will be my legacy, such as it is.
That will give my family some comfort, after they've sold all material crap.

Very few people in the world achieve any kind of lasting legacy. As others have pointed out in this thread, no one will remember you after your grandchildren pass.
The most common real lasting legacy is having something named after you, like a street or a school; less than 000000000000001% of the population achieves that type of legacy. The next most common would be situations where you acquire serious generational wealth and use that to purchase a legacy, such as your name on a building at a college.
So, for everyone reading this, your legacy is measured by your deeds, how you raise your family, contribute to your community, and show kindness to those in need. I call it the legacy of the soul...After you are gone, is the world a little better off because of you?

Just imagine, if you work really hard AND get really lucky in life... they will put your name on a gate at Tiger Stadium.
