Works about as much as snapping your fingers and pointing at the traffic light.
I had a roommate that used to do that.

Holy shite, you gumps think the sun rises and sets in saban's arse and now you think the traffic lights change for YOU. Put on your sneakers and your jogging suit and shove those 2 rolls of quarters up your arse, that spaceship should be coming soon.

No, but I do backup across the loop sensors when no one is behind me to trick the light to think there's several cars waiting.

Sometimes if the light is taking forever and I'm a passenger when we are in the right lane, I jump out and press the crosswalk button next to me. It gets the light to change colors faster.

Omg.......the video detection cameras use detection zone software that defines an area actuated by the cars presence. It does not use headlights!
The controller sequences because the camera senses the car nd the previous minimum green time has expired.
Now, if you are talking about Opticom emergency vehicle detection (the small black trumpets), they work with special emitters that vehicles are equipped with and are not affected by headlights.
Humans and their foil hats....

NATidefan Does anyone blink thier brights at red lights to change them? Works on a lot of red lights. The thread about running the red arrow light made wonder who else knew the bright lights trick.
This has got to be the dumbest thing I have ever read. I generally consider it a stereotype that gumps are dumb, perhaps inbred, rednecks but you certainly fit into this category. Trust me from someone who knows a little more than the average guy this in no way works anywhere.

I have OCD and I MUST blink my brights off and on exactly evey 22 seconds. Dammit!

quote:No, it doesn't. There are no light tricks or weight sensors. As said, there is a an electrical loop placed in the road. If you look, you will see a rectangular shape where the black is darker than the road. That is where the loop is located. If you pull past that or stop before it, the loop will not sense you being there. Also, it often doesn't pick up motorcycles, especially smaller ones. If it doesn't sense anything, that just means you have to wait the full time of the red light which is known as a cycle.
Works in my hometown
A lot of intersections have cameras mounted near the signal light to detect vehicles. They are never the same cameras used for citations; those cameras are located at corners. Cameras do not detect bright lights either. These have multiple squares programmed into their views to detect large "blocks."
