I hate this cockstain of a city.
I am moving away in 8 days and have no intentions of ever returning. I should have left last year but I wanted to see if St. George was going to happen, but since it's not I'm keeping my word and bailing. Slowly but surely that blight from above I12 is spreading south and will meet up with Gardere on the doorstep of mid-city.

If you're going to shite on BR at least be clear in your geographical references.

Risk? I've lived here since 1981 and have not had any problems.

How would St. George have prevented that?

Enjoy paying higher taxes because a certain demographic in this town isn't.

Louisiana is one of the least diverse states when it comes to domestic migration – nearly 4 out of 5 residents were born in the state, a figure that hasn't changed much over the past century.

DIASPORA OUT OF LOUISIANA
Louisiana historically has had one of the highest retention rates in the nation. That changed after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. After accounting for all the people who left and those who came back, the overall picture showed an increase in movement to other states. About 10 percent of people born in Louisiana now live in Texas.

WOW! 10% of Louisiana natives live in TX. I believe it. Its astounding the number of Louisiana people who live in Houston.

I believe Houston is the fastest growing city in the country with 150 new people added each day and according to this 15 of those are from Louisiana.

That would be an incorrect assumption. 10% of Louisiana born people have relocated to TX. Not 10% of all people moving to TX are from LA.

East Baton Rouge Parish has one of the lowest total tax rates of any Parish/County of a top-100 metro in the US.

2005-2006, Baton Rouge was basically Mogidishu

So many empty abandoned buildings and lots. Both the Hilton Capitol Center and the Renaissance Hotel were giant abandoned buildings as was the Bon carre business park. Downtown was a ghost town after work. I don't think the City Plaza Towers had been built downtown yet. Perkins Rowe hadn't been built, and neither had Town Center. The state courthouse was run down and unrenovated. The seeds had been sown for the downtown revival with the relocation of the state offices downtown the decade before, but the plants hadn't grown fruit yet.

The crime wave started by the NOLA castaways was pretty terrifying, not to mention the serial killers.

No. But if you live in a good neighborhood in Baton Rouge I will be happy to sell you my house at market value and purchase yours.

Not much going on here if you're single or married without a family. Austin, Tampa, Nashville, Houston...all have more outdoor amenities and acitivities.

Absolutely! Now, tell us about the stellar public education system and the great healthcare around here. Don't forget to mention its dynamic and robust job market.

Yeah. If you were born there or your best years were spent there (LSU student) and made a life there, you probably love it.

I am from a little turd of a town. I still love it. I don't live there, and only would if life took a big turn. But it's a nice enough area and a good place to raise a kid. I turned out awesome.

Everybody loves there home. Unless you had a horrible life. People always bitch about their home. I just did in the above paragraph, but you're trying to hard when you really bash your hometown.
