Lady I work with makes no attempt onlearn about some of the people whom she works with and it’s kinda cringeworthy.

Chick runs a call and every single time, she asks people on the call who they are. This has been going for 8 months and there’s only like 10 people on her call.

“Hi, this is Katy.”
“Oh, hello. Did you say Kathryn or Kimberly was your name? And who do you work for.”
“Accounting”

10 minutes later:
“Unfortunately no one from accounting is on the call today, so we can’t cover this.”

This happens every week.

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about, but I see people every day in the business world that are in their 40s and 50s that I wonder how in the frick anyone hired them, much less lets them out of the back closet to be seen by outsiders. These people really should've been ostracized from society decades ago.

I work with a few boomers who are absolute freaks. They are so awkward it hurts. I'm not sure how they tricked people into hiring them and marrying them.

In defense of these people, I am terrible with names. If I meet someone for the first time, their name usually goes completely over my head. I am too focused on what I'm going to say to them instead of listening to what they say to me.

Well thats kinda rude, you dont have to be a people person to be good at what you do. I would rather be socially akward and the GOAT than, a a-hole who THINKS they are better than everyone.

Lots of the Indian fellas I work with have atrocious people skills.

They are very smart and do their job well, until it comes time to explain it to someone else or discuss it in a meeting.

Pretty awful. Its not a language thing, they're all very fluent in English.

Caveat: This isn't ALL of them, just MOST.

Certain jobs require good people skills more than others. What I get irritated with isn't really a people skills thing but it's companies who hire employees who can barely speak the English language. I'm not even talking about customer support.

I work for a technology firm. The analysts and engineers have zero fricks to give about how they talk to clients.

I'm good with people, but I am terrible with faces and names. Unless I see you routinely, I generally have no recollection of who you are or what you do. It's not personal, just some limitation in my brain. I find if I'm honest about it to people and kind of laugh at myself for it, no one is offended.

It's an old trick to assert dominance over others and imbue self mportance. If you forget people's names they feel Inferior and not import. I've used this technique very successfully against clients.
