I go to talk to my Mom. I talk to her almost every day anyway, but when I'm in BR I always go talk to her. It's been 34years and never gets any easier.

the name rings a bell...I think that lake is in the area of a hunting club that my family was in decades ago while I was growing up.

It was a great fishing spot, but dried up in the early 2000s and they never reopened it. NWR, so limited hunting.

One of my cousins friends goes because she thinks its peaceful. She says she likes to go and park in the middle of the gravesite and think about the lives of all of the dead people around her. Kinda weird but hey whatever floars her boat I guess.

Never. This is why I don't want my family wasting money on one if/when I die.

The physical spot and remains really help me pay the respect I think they deserve.

I think of loved ones lost daily in my head and that is great, but having a spot to visit really makes it easier to feel like you're visiting them even when it is still only ever in your thoughts.

I visit family gravesites and place flowers usually around Memorial Day. My parents mostly, but grandparents as well.

No fricking shite. People don't need to add the disclaimer "THIS IS MY OPINION" every time they state an opinion.

edit: Just in case you aren't sure, THIS IS MY OPINION. This is also my pet peeve

It is a coping mechanism for the living.

Plus to me, headstones and cemeteries are just cool. Can't explain why.

We buried my father in an old family plot in Chicago last November. He is a couple hundred yards from Al Capone. Will have to visit in future as his brother and wife will be buried there too.

I take my Mom by my Dad's grave after Easter Sunday Church to put an Easter Lily out.My Grandparents are next to my Dad.

My Dads best friend is buried right in front of him.

One of my hunting buddies in High School is within eyesight.Got killed at Auburn when he was 20.

I often visit grave sites - just not those of my family.

I enjoy strolling through grave yards and reading the markers. Lots of history, lots to contemplate, and generally very peaceful environments. Living up here in New England there are a lot of really old grave yards.

Have seen plenty of markers with variations of this inscription:

To he who may pass by
As you are now, so once was I
As I am now, thou soon shall be
Prepare thyself to follow me

Catholic here, so we go every year, Nov. 1, All Saints day, down to Avoyelles where my dad and Grands are all buried . I nmade a promise to my Mom I would continue this after's he's gone also. It's a great time. We meet some of my cousins that have folks buried in the same cemetaries, then go have lunch together.
Great way to honor the dead and catch up with folks we don't see often

I often visit Bruce Lee's grave for guidance or when I'm really stressed out. He brings me wisdom and peace.
