FEMA said you couldn’t turn these alerts off. Probably a coincidence.

Yet cops can drive down the interstate typing on their computer?

I turn mine off, but I have the weather alerts on. I care about the weather, not about kids.

Has anybody ever actually been caught by an amber alert?

This.

Sorry, but when one woke my wife and me up in the middle of the night once, Amber Alerts became dead to me.

I turned them off. If an amber alert is issued during the day, I’ll get notifications from news apps. If one comes through at 3am, I’m in bed and won’t be finding a missing kid.

That’s the only way they caught me.

States have diff laws. In LA, it's just texting and driving illegal. Not scrolling through or looking at phone.

If they suspect you, they will tail you a bit. A texting driver won't even notice them and usually jerk the wheel if they notice they are drifting over once they finally look up.

frick “Amber alerts”...it’s usually some beat down from the system dad trying to escape with his child from some whore that’s fricking half the city, and forcing the kid to call her parade of dicks “daddy”.

I leave it on. It doesn't go off often and you never know, it can be something that happens near me and just so happen to have seen something that can help.. Why turn it off?

If I had a child that was kidnapped, i'd like as many people as possible to be aware of it because that increases the chances of someone having seen something..Or knows something.

This. I had them on for a long time. Quit when it turned out that all of them were pretty much custody issues.

Of course I turned them off; I think it's a dumb idea in the first place.

Also, one time they interrupted an LSU baseball radio broadcast for one and I think I said "I hope they never find the brat" which led to a lack of sex that night.

Yes. Then yesterday I got a “test Presidential alert” and iPhone doesn’t have a turn off for it.
