It could run from Dallas to Austin to San Antonio to Houston, call it the DASH.

There's no big need for it. There's about 35 flights a day between the two metros, using 4 different airports, and the speed limit is 75. Money better spent elsewhere.

Aren't the tickets relatively cheap in other countries? If I could pay $50 for there and back and I didn't have to drive, I would pay that all day long. I feel like security would be much easier than airports and you get there 10 minutes before the train leaves.

Yeah but flights are probably an average of $300. I bet people would ride the train over flying if it was much cheaper.

Makes no sense. Taxpayers will eventually bail it out when it loses money. It is a money maker for the developer, filling a hole that hasn't been dug yet.

Better to just build some diamond lanes on 45 and run electric buses leaving every 5 minutes.

Its looking more and more likely it will happen. But I wonder what the cost of a ticket will be. It probably won't be any cheaper than flying SWA which costs about $220. So you're basically looking at a time savings of maybe an hour since security won't be as tight. I think a more lucrative and more in demand route would be down I-35 to Austin and San Antonio.

I'm 10 minutes from the train station. But you can't stay here. There is also light rail connections at the Dallas station to the northern burbs and to Ft Worth.

There’d be one from San Fran to San Diego and Washington to Boston before they’d ever build a bullet train from Dallas to Houston.

There is one technically under construction in Cali. They are building overpasses and other infrastructure for it but there is still a lot of opposition from Repubs and Dems which threatens future construction since it is funded mostly by the state. There are also tougher engineering hurdles for a cali train with mountains along the route. Right now it is 2033 before it is completed. By contrast, the Texas train is privately funded and all indications are construction will start next year and be operational in 3 years.

But still stupid enough to troll the Louisiana message board.

Hey Texan go join the Texas board if you hate Louisiana so much.
