Maybe your wife has been playing spin the bottle with the neighborhood boys like my next door neighbor's mom did. Ms Jerrie was fun to walk around the house with.

I like how OP refuses to tell us if he has a kid. Or give any context whatsoever.

Our house is always full of kids 15-16 yo . 3 of my son’s friends are over tonight. We treat them like they are ours . One of our guy’s mother committed suicide two years ago and we have opened our home to him anytime.

Open the door and throw a pot of water on them.

My older brother playing some hiding game was hiding on the side of a house a few down from us and the man opened the window and dumped boiling water on him.

My old man hated that guy for the next 40 years and when he finally died my old man said “frick that guy.”

I miss growing up in my hometown where we knew all our neighbors. One lady who lived a few houses down was almost like a 2nd grandmother too us. She used to invite some of the kids for dinner all the time. When shr saw us out playing and sweating. She would bring us cookies and bottled water. She would tell us stories about her life, etc. She didn't have any kids or anything( who lived there with her) but we would frequently knock on her door just because.

Now we lost contact obviously once we moved. It had been at least 15 years since we lived at that house, but I saw on fb from an old friend in the neighborhood that she passed away and man did that hit me hard. I felt so crazy for crying over someone whom I hadn't seen in 15 years whom technically wasn't even family.

But you didn't say you wouldn't throw a pot of non-boiling water on them.

Cool story, though.

Nah. I always like to see kids playing in the neighborhood outside. It’s a sign of a good lively neighborhood.

When I was a kid we had over 100 kids on my street alone of various school ages. We all went to the same schools and played every kind of game you could dream up day and night. We had a blast.

Whoa. Did you happen to live on Sesame Street?

I was telling my wife tonight that I'd driven back to my grandmother's house about a year ago. Just wanted to see the old neighborhood.

We played like that all the time....how times change.

No but back then people had large families. I was 1 of 9 kids so we contributed a good bit to the headcount. Had several older kids killed in Vietnam and one family’s dad was a POW in the Hanoi Hilton. His daughter was my age.

I bet living in a large neighborhood full of kids was a great way to grow up.
