Do you think humans are genetically imprinted with the ability to speak language?

Listening to a Great Courses course on language and the professor was talking about one of the big controversies in the field.
To what extent is human language genetic.
We are pretty sure that Fox P 2 plays a part, but to what extent is hugely controversial.
The idea is simple. That regardless of intelligence or influence, every young healthy human being learns to speak their language successfully no matter the complexity (all things being equal). Even many people with disorders and brain dam age of speech expounded or reinterpreted.
This goes even deeper with is grammar engrained into us. Is there a universal human grammar?Animals know words. But words are generally meaningless to animals without immediate context.
Now there were some things I don’t quite understand. Brain development vs genetic mutation. Where does one begin and the other end. There are valid arguments for why we find learning language later in life so difficult) but I don’t understand why we would biologically lose the ability in quite the way it was described. (There was a story told about a girl who first became exposed to language when she was 13 and her comprehension of language remained at the level of a chimpanzee for the rest of her life)

Not at all. I worked to 8:30PM and I got home at 9:30 and I had a buffalo chicken sandwich and I’m very tired and feel very peaceful. But I am anti marijuana

Not at all. Communication is basic and almost every animal communicates in some way. Language is much much much more complicated and shares some universal trademarks across all languages.
The professor actually goes into some examples. There are places in our brain that are solely in charge of grammar. People get brain damage in that location where their intelligence remains the same but they lose the ability to speak grammatically at all.
Meanwhile, there are others with brilliant articulation with other types of brain damage but are unable to use words.

It's hard to do this in short form. Language is acquired. Neural and muscle development are needed elements along with some form of language. By way of evolution our brains evolved to the extent of being able to develop a language from pictures and grunts to what we enjoy now. Language actually is quite the complicated process from phenoms to monoms to lexicon to syntax to grammar - all which develop as the toddler is neurually and muscularly ready. I could say a lot more, but I normally teach a week's worth of material on the topic and that is just scratching the surface.

I don’t know the answer to your question.Something I have long been curious about is how different accents come to be.Think about how many accents there are-Scottish,Irish,English,New York,Boston,South Louisiana,on and on.Then why do some people lose their accents when they relocate and some never do.My grandfather was raised in Crowley,didn’t speak English until he started 1’st grade.He moved to Baton Rouge after WW1 and he didn’t have even a hint of Cajun accent,others never seem to lose it.

This if I remember correctly is about your speech habits when you enter puberty.
Your larynx drops, lengthens, muscles thicken.
Now, over heard a couple of different explanations on how this actually plays out, but both are somewhat similar that your speech patterns usually get pretty stuck to what you sound like when this happens.

Speaking a language is not genetic. Learning to do it is. Isolate a young person with basic necessities but no verbal communication, no means to learn to talk/read or hear it. You can actually lose the ability to speak a language if you get cut off from it.

My wife is fluent in 4 languages and able to teach 3. In grade school she started learning English and then she learned French and Spanish when she studied at her University. She also knows a good amount of Italian and can follow Portuguese. I started with German at 29 years old and in
a few years I am able to speak at a basic level in German, but still struggle with the grammar. Learning another language at a younger age is easier than learning later in life or so it seems from my situation.I think the more I keep working at it the better I will get ,but I will never speak at the native tounge level. My wife also says that after she learned her first language outside of her mother tounge that it became easier to learn other languages.

If you consider the neural infrastructure required for the development of language interpretation and expression as "genetically imprinted," then yes.
