I’m a functioning adult, so yes I speak to the people I work with. To varying degrees of course, but totally ignoring people you see everyday is immature and unprofessional.

I wonder, when I see a post like this, if the OP is one of those crap-stirrers around the office causing drama and creating problems haha

I remember one guy in the office during a meeting of co-workers piped up his opinion when the other co-workers were discussing families and children. He is a notorious penny pincher in every way. When people were talking about school activities, sports, clubs, clothes and costs of such for their kids, he tossed out, “anyone that has more than one child is stupid.” Silence….. I don’t recall anyone walking up to his desk to blab for maybe a year or so. And, it was obvious that co-workers ignored him in every setting. He sat down my aisle.

He’s the middle aged, clearly, alcoholic who’s miserable all the time so people avoid him. Because of this, he runs to the internet to try to validate himself that he ignores all of his coworkers who do everything they can to steer clear of him and all of his whining

Sure I do, because I am not a teenage girl. I probably don’t like half of the folks I work with, but just because I am not friends with them, does not mean I refuse to talk to them.

YEs and I pretend to be friendly too. Its call being an adult and team player. You will forever work with people you don't like.

No, but to be fair I don’t talk to the ones I like either.

Work friendly and easily with everyone. Don’t involve yourself in personal conversations and drama with anyone.

I’ve been around a long time and typically the baws that start making demands like refusing to help out or support someone associated with a work task are the first ones to get passed up if not let go.

Same can be said for those in junior positions that form cliques and try and challenge upper management.

Work isn't high school. if the job involves talking to people you don't like, you have to be mature enough to handle it.

i mean, i'm not going out for drinks with them or inviting them to parties. But, I talk to them when necessary.

Of course. No, 1 we have to work together and it just can't be done efficiently and effectively without speaking to them. No. 2 I don't really hate anyone I work with so much that I can't conversate with them.

I may not like or respect them, but usually there are one or two things in common that I can have a passing conversation with them about and then get into work, and I feel pretty confident in my ability to disengage when it veers to something I don't care to get into.

And hell, I'm sure a couple don't like me, but if so they still talk to me too, work must be done and life is full of doing things you don't like to do.

This! I'm on a team of about 15. We all work from home but meet every 3 months. In I.T. so all our jobs /task inner join at some point so best be on speaking terms with everyone. Do i like everyone ?no . Do i have my favorites? Yes. None of them know it either way when working on a task with them.

I’m pretty cordial with everyone and will always at least give them a “good morning” but it doesn’t go much past that.
