No. Adults who care about birthdays are weird. It’s pretty much just another day once you’re out of college

My birthday is on a holiday, so yes.
Otherwise I would not.

When my kids were real young I would if I was able to. It's a big deal to them to be together as a family, go out to eat, do cake and all that. I work 24-hour shifts so it isn't a situation where I'm going to be home from work at 5 and get to do all that.

Mine is often around some pretty solid sporting events, so sometimes
Although we don't take time off anyway, I just don't go in the office

This may sound morbid, but while my birthday was exciting when I was kid, nowadays, it just feels like a reminder that I haven't reached the standards that I expected of myself by this time in my life.
More than likely those standards you have for yourself are built by what you know your family, friends, or co-workers should expect of you. Do the best you can do at work but at home all that shite is irrelevant, supposed to enjoy what you got. I have no idea what standards you are referring to so can't really comment about it. More than likely you are doing much better than you realize.

Yes, but that’s only cause my birthday falls in the middle of summer, so it’s an excuse to go out of town before school starts back up. If my birthday was in the middle of winter, probably not.

Depends on day of the week it falls on

My last company gave us our birthday and work anniversary off. I’d rather work those days and get paid a competitive salary though.

No. I try to make it through the day without someone realizing it's my birthday

Yeah. I'd be much more likely to take a day off for this than a birthday.

No. I’ve had either work or football on my birthday every year since I was 8. Funny this thread is posted today; today is my birthday and it’s probably the least busy day I’ve had in months. Work in the trades and am between jobs, I worked about 5 hours today and am doing little odds and ends the rest of the day. Not planned just how it worked out.
When I told the customers at the last job that today was my birthday, the lady (late 30s) made a big deal about how I shouldn’t work at all on my birthday. If I had something planned that would be fine, but I’m not gonna sit at home and do nothing “because it’s my birthday.” Millennial women treat every birthday like it’s the birth of Christ.

Every year. I get plenty of PTO so why not? I don’t expect others to make a big fuss cause it’s my bday but I absolutely refuse to work that day. I consider it my own personal holiday each year. Just a day to enjoy and be thankful I’m alive another year

No, because I’m grown.
Even if I were that childish, I could not because we are not allowed to take PTO between Xmas and new year’s. My bday is 12/30

Once I hit 25 it wasn’t special anymore. I took off for 40 and went on a bomb arse trip. 43 is this year and idgaf.

I always take a week off work around my birthday because it’s a good time for a vacation. It’s summer so it’s a good time for a trip to the beach, but all the kids are back in school. Don’t really care about my birthday but it’s a good excuse to not be at work where people will make a fuss all day.
