I usually don't, but this year I am, because it is on a Monday and I can party on Sunday for a change.

Periodically when Memorial Day happens to fall on that day and I don't have any work to do that weekend.

My B-day is in July so I plan vacation for that week

My company does a pretty cool thing and gives you a vacation day… But you can take it anytime that month.

I took off a couple days for my 40th and we had a quick getaway.

In this thread, a whole bunch of folks who cares way to much about the company they work for. A company that would have their job requisite posted quicker than your obituary would be posted. Or a bunch of folks who actually have a PTO balance. Thank God I have unlimited PTO and take nearly 60 days off a calendar year.
Work to live people, not live to work.

I usually would, but now my employer has made it (Veterans Day)
a paid holiday so I no longer have to.

Considering it this year because it’s on a Friday. Also my bday fell on Mardi Gras day a few years back so that was fun.

It is mandatory where I work, that we take a day off for our birthday. It counts as vacation, but is not included in the 3 weeks of PTO

Last company I worked for gave you an extra PTO day for your birthday. I always took it around the Christmas Holiday(birthday is in November)

Mine fell on a Saturday this year but I took off the Thursday and Friday before to do a little “staycation”.
If it was in the middle of the week I wouldn’t take off more than likely.

I usually don’t, but this year it fell it the middle of the week so I took off work half the week, jumped on a plane to Costa Rica and had tons of fun with the local women.

the older I get, the less a birthday means. that may change as time goes on. work is more important at this point. having said that, my birthday is Labor Day weekend, so I generally have a long weekend near my birthday.
i do offer my employees that "free" day off for their birthday...assuming they are up to date on their work.

I don't know if my work even knows my birthday. It is just another day.
