Yeah I used to sleep really late, but now I wake up between 8-9 on my days off instead of the usual 5.

Going hunting or fishing or getting the day started.

There's always stuff to be done somewhere

I have a toddler. There is no concept of sleeping late or a day off.

Can't. Body just isn't used to it. And I love the mornings too much to waste them.

Rarely - if I'm not working I'm fishing. Often wake up around 4-5am on my days off to get to my spot early.

Depends on how late I was up the night before entirely.

If I stay in and go to bed at 11pm, I'm up at 7-7:30am.

If I'm out till 4am, I'm getting up at 12pm.

anything past 8 and I feel like I'm wasting my day. I'm usually up between 6:30 and 7 on my. I usually get about 7 hours of sleep so my wakeup time fluctuates with the time I go to bed. 10-5, 11-6, etc... it just happens that way.

I'm the same way. I feel like I've wasted too much of the day.

Sparkplug, you need to do some reading up on sleep deprivation and it's effects upon ghrelin, body weight,etc..it affects far more than just brain functions and reflexes,etc.. You can get away with it for short periods in youth, but it's very damaging longterm(lost sleep can never be made up late by oversleep,etc..according to sleep experts), it's sorta day by day accountable. I heard a General give us in Basic Training a motivational speech as we were only getting about 5 to 6 hrs sleep, telling of he getting by on 2 to 4 hours per night for his tour in Vietnam..maybe he was running on adrenaline or cocoa leaves? F that sh!t! Sleep experts suggest 8hrs sleep(9 for some folks), and ideally a nap or at least a stress-hormone reducing 30 minutes of closed eyes in your mid-waking hours(exactly..who has the time?) You need to see someone over your deprivation. May require modifying your bed, diet, lack of tv in bedroom,etc.. This post was edited on 12/23 at 2:05 am

I'm 41. I don't do drugs and I've had sleep studies done in the past. I have sleep apnea and insomnia. Ambien is the only sleep aid that works for me but I stopped taking it in 09. I didn't like the fact that in the event of an emergency, I couldn't wake up if I wanted to. NO other sleep aid works, even if I double the dosage. They just make me feel tired. I know what I have is considered a disability but I function ok. I'm really never tired, but I know it's not good for me. I got about 3 hours of sleep last night, and that's pretty good for me.

Edit: I'm not overweight, I've tried different diets, I've tried temperpedic mattresses, regular ones...etc.

Usually wake up between 7-9am. Really depends on where I am. At my house we have a ton of natural light so I rarely sleep past 8, at my in-laws I can sleep to 9 or so.

Hell yes. However, it isn't nearly as satisfying as getting up for work or something early and it being cancelled and going back to sleep.

I like waking up early in the am on my full days off. Like that feeling of the whole day ahead of me. But....working nights and sleeping during the day....it's different. You never get that "ugh I don't want to wake up feeling" when getting up in the afternoon to get ready for work like you do when you have to get up early in the am to get ready for work.
