120k after tax, live on less than 40k per year. It's not hard at all if you're reasonably frugal.

Yes, but it took me a long time to get to this point. Money doesn’t buy happiness but it sure takes a lot of stress out of your life.

I didn't live on less than 40k/ year as an undergrad (thanks dad).

No way that is reasonable with a family.
